INNOVATING TECHNOLOGY

29 MAY 2026

At BPM SFX, transparency is at the heart of everything we do, and our monthly articles are our way of giving those interested in our work a genuine and in-depth look at what we have been up to. Rather than simply showcasing the highlights, we want to offer a fuller picture of life at BPM SFX. We believe that the more people understand about us, the stronger the relationships we are able to build within our industry.

Each article is carefully structured around our slogan — What We Do — and covers three key areas that together reflect the full scope of our company. The first focuses on the innovation, creativity, and expertise, shining a light on the developments, technologies, and ideas that keep BPM SFX at the forefront of the industry. The second covers the people, culture, and community, celebrating the individuals and teams that make our company special. The third highlights the events, shows, and festivals we, showcasing the productions and performances where our work truly comes to life. This months coverage is as follows:

Chase and Status Section 63
What - The innovation, creativity, and expertise

Increasing In-House Production
We - The people, culture, and community

BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend
Do - The events, shows, and festivals

These articles are also shared on our LinkedIn page, where we provide the same updates to our wider network of industry professionals, clients, and followers. Whether you are a long-standing client, a fellow industry professional, or simply someone curious about the world of live events, we hope these updates give you a meaningful insight.

CHASE AND STATUS SECTION 63

Earlier in May, we had the pleasure of joining Chase and Status for their special show, Section 63, at Magazine London. Designed to be a far more immersive experience than a traditional arena or festival performance, the event required a unique approach to both production and effects. We were brought on board to integrate a range of effects that would help enhance the atmosphere and contribute to the industrial, high-energy aesthetic of the show.

Working closely with the production team, we carefully planned the placement of each effect to maximise its impact within the venue. One of the standout elements involved installing our in-house Firewalls within a broken-down vehicle positioned off-stage, creating the illusion of the car erupting into flames at key moments throughout the performance. Alongside this, we supplied Kvant Atom 42 lasers to further elevate the visual experience and immerse the audience. The result was an unforgettable show that was a pleasure to be a part of such.

INCREASING IN-HOUSE PRODUCTION

May has also seen our team continue to invest significant time into improving and developing our in-house production capabilities ahead of what promises to be another busy summer season. Preparation is a vital part of delivering world-class events, and much of that work begins long before equipment arrives on-site. Throughout the month, our staff have been ensuring every aspect of our operation is ready for the demanding schedule ahead.

A particular focus has been the continued development and enhancement of our revolutionary Control Racks. These upgrades are designed to further improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability for some of our largest shows and festivals. Alongside these developments, our staff have been carrying out extensive testing, servicing, and updates across our inventory to ensure everything performs to the highest standard to deliver exceptional results around the world.

BBC RADIO 1 BIG WEEKEND

We officially kicked off this year's festival season by joining a variety of artists at BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend. Across three action-packed days, we had the pleasure of providing effects for performances from Olivia Dean, Louis Tomlinson, Ellie Goulding, Fatboy Slim, Sonny Fodera, Fisher, MK, and Kehlani. The event once again proved to be one of the standout moments in the UK festival calendar and provided the perfect start to a busy summer schedule.

To help elevate the performances, we supplied a wide range of effects including Eco2 Jets, Wave Flames, Stadium Shots, Stadium Blasters, Stage Pyro, and a spectacular Display Pyro. Alongside the SFX, we also provided Kvant Atom 58 lasers powered by Pangolin systems to create striking visual moments throughout the weekend. The response was fantastic, and we were proud to contribute to another successful edition of BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend.
