HELPING HANDS

28 FEBRUARY 2025

At BPM SFX, transparency is at the heart of everything we do, and our monthly articles are our way of giving those interested in our work a genuine and in-depth look at what we have been up to. Rather than simply showcasing the highlights, we want to offer a fuller picture of life at BPM SFX. We believe that the more people understand about us, the stronger the relationships we are able to build within our industry.

Each article is carefully structured around our slogan — What We Do — and covers three key areas that together reflect the full scope of our company. The first focuses on the innovation, creativity, and expertise, shining a light on the developments, technologies, and ideas that keep BPM SFX at the forefront of the industry. The second covers the people, culture, and community, celebrating the individuals and teams that make our company special. The third highlights the events, shows, and festivals we, showcasing the productions and performances where our work truly comes to life. This months coverage is as follows:

Laser Training Course
What - The innovation, creativity, and expertise

Academy of Live Technology Demonstration Day
We - The people, culture, and community

F1 75 Live
Do - The events, shows, and festivals

These articles are also shared on our LinkedIn page, where we provide the same updates to our wider network of industry professionals, clients, and followers. Whether you are a long-standing client, a fellow industry professional, or simply someone curious about the world of live events, we hope these updates give you a meaningful insight.

LASER TRAINING COURSE

This month our laser technicians took part in advanced training as we continue to push the boundaries of what we can deliver on stage. We were delighted to welcome several leading laser experts who introduced our team to new techniques, with a particular focus on audience laser scanning. This innovative approach opens up exciting possibilities for future shows, adding another dimension to how we can captivate and immerse audiences.

The training combined in-depth presentations with practical demonstrations, covering everything from technical implementation and creative applications to strict safety guidelines for responsible use. Running over multiple days, the sessions gave our technicians the chance to develop their skills and gain hands-on experience with the techniques. We’re grateful to the specialists who shared their expertise, and we look forward to incorporating audience scanning into upcoming projects to further elevate the BPM SFX experience.

ACADEMY OF LIVE TECHNOLOGY DEMONSTRATION DAY

In February, we had the pleasure of hosting a demonstration day at the Academy of Live Technology, giving students a unique opportunity to experience our SFX and laser equipment up close. Our team showcased a variety of effects including Kvant Atom 42 Lasers, Explo Wave Flames and Flame Guns, Galaxis G Flames, and a range of Stage Pyrotechnics.

Beyond the live demonstrations, students were able to get hands-on by operating the equipment themselves under the guidance of our technicians. Our staff also led discussions on safe handling, best practices, and career insights, answering questions and offering advice about working in the industry. It was fantastic to see the enthusiasm and curiosity of the students, many of whom stayed long after the demonstrations to learn more. Supporting the next generation of live event professionals is something we value highly.

F1 75 LIVE

The highlight of February was undoubtedly our involvement in F1 75 Live, an event celebrating the 75th anniversary of Formula 1 while offering fans a first look at the new 2025 cars and liveries. With preseason testing just around the corner, the event brought together motorsport enthusiasts from around the globe and broke records with its worldwide viewership.

In addition to the high-profile team reveals, the event also featured performances from Machine Gun Kelly, Kane Brown, and Take That. Our team delivered a spectacular range of effects for both the reveals and live acts, including Galaxis G Flames, Luminous Cryo Curtains, MDG Low Fog, Stage Pyrotechnics, and Magic FX Power Shots and Eco Jets. We’d like to thank 1826 Studios for bringing us on board and giving us the opportunity to help create such a memorable moment for both die-hard F1 fans and casual viewers alike.
