FRESH COLLABORATIONS

30 MAY 2025

At BPM SFX, transparency is at the heart of everything we do, and our monthly articles are our way of giving those interested in our work a genuine and in-depth look at what we have been up to. Rather than simply showcasing the highlights, we want to offer a fuller picture of life at BPM SFX. We believe that the more people understand about us, the stronger the relationships we are able to build within our industry.

Each article is carefully structured around our slogan — What We Do — and covers three key areas that together reflect the full scope of our company. The first focuses on the innovation, creativity, and expertise, shining a light on the developments, technologies, and ideas that keep BPM SFX at the forefront of the industry. The second covers the people, culture, and community, celebrating the individuals and teams that make our company special. The third highlights the events, shows, and festivals we, showcasing the productions and performances where our work truly comes to life. This months coverage is as follows:

New MA3 Arrivals
What - The innovation, creativity, and expertise

Oswald Over Fader Stands
We - The people, culture, and community

BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend
Do - The events, shows, and festivals

These articles are also shared on our LinkedIn page, where we provide the same updates to our wider network of industry professionals, clients, and followers. Whether you are a long-standing client, a fellow industry professional, or simply someone curious about the world of live events, we hope these updates give you a meaningful insight.

NEW MA3 ARRIVALS

May saw the exciting arrival of our brand-new MA3 consoles, supplied by MA Lighting and Ambersphere Solutions. These powerful desks represent the latest in show control technology and are set to play a key role in shaping the creative output of BPM SFX in the months to come. Since their delivery, our technicians have been putting in the hours at HQ, working closely with the new equipment to familiarise themselves with its features.

The addition of MA3 consoles gives our team more flexibility and control than ever before, opening new doors for creative design and seamless show operation. From improved workflow efficiency to expanded possibilities for synchronising SFX and lasers, this technology allows us to push the boundaries of what we can deliver. We are eager to roll these consoles out into upcoming events, where audiences will see firsthand how MA3 can elevate live productions.

OSWALD OVER FADER STANDS

Alongside the arrival of our MA3 consoles, we also invested in a series of custom-branded laptop stands from Oswald Over Fader Stands. Oswald is a smaller, independent manufacturer within the live events community, and we were impressed with the innovative detail and functionality of his stands, which are purpose-built for MA3 setups. By working with him, we not only gained high-quality, practical stands but also supported a growing business within our industry.

The new stands give our consoles a distinctive branded look while adding the practicality of being able to securely hold laptops during operation. It is always important to us to collaborate with suppliers who share our passion for quality, and Oswald delivered exactly that. We are extremely pleased with the results and grateful for the work he put into creating these pieces. As our fleet of consoles grows in the future, we will be sure to return to him for further builds.

BBC RADIO 1 BIG WEEKEND

The start of the festival season was marked by BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, held in Liverpool’s Sefton Park. The event brought together a huge lineup of artists and drew audiences both live and through coverage on BBC iPlayer. BPM SFX was proud to supply SFX across several headline performances, delivering spectacular visuals for one of the UK’s biggest festivals.

Our work included SFX for sets from Sam Fender, Tom Grennan, Mumford and Sons, and James Hype. Across the weekend, our team deployed Stage Pyrotechnics, Galaxis G Flames, Showven Sparkular Jets, Magic FX Hellfires, and X-Treme Shots, with each headline set ending in a grand finale of Display Pyro. The reaction from audiences both in the park and watching at home highlighted the impact of these effects in bringing the performances to life. BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend was the perfect way to kick off the busy summer season.
